Weekly Update – January 6, 2019

This is Bill Pitcock, Principal of Westlane Middle School with the Westlane Wildcat Weekly Message.

-The Great North Run and Fitness Fair is coming up on Saturday, March 9 at North Central High School.  You can get registered at https://secure.getmeregistered.com/get_information.php?event_id=131067 – between now and January 15, use the code NEWYEAR2019 and receive 15% off of all registration fees.  Make sure you select “Westlane Middle School” as your school when you register.

-We will be moving Advisory to the morning in a six-week pilot schedule.  This will not affect afternoon classes and will have very little impact on morning classes.  It will however shift lunch times.  Our Lunch times will be as follows : A – 11:28, B – 12:10, C – 12:52.

-Parents, please stress the importance of getting to class on time and staying in class.  We are stressing both as we return and want to make sure that we have your partnership in this effort.  We have great teaching and learning here at Westlane, and we don’t want our students to miss a minute of it!

-As we enter the winter months, I do want to make sure that you are aware of changes in schedules and how we are communicating.  If we are canceled or under a 2-hour delay, the district will communicate that over this messenger system.  If we are at school and need to cancel athletic events, I will use this system to notify you.  Please know that student safety is our highest priority, but we do have to wait for the other schools to make the athletic cancellation call when the event takes place at the opponent’s school.  We will do our best to make any calls by 1:00, but we also know that the weather can change in an instant.

-Please visit wl.msdwt.k12.in.us for all things Westlane.  Our Parent Corner has a wealth of information on it for all parents.

Westlane Middle School is an International Baccalaureate World School and an AVID Schoolwide Site of Distinction.  The mission of Westlane Middle School is to provide a safe, inclusive environment where children develop and demonstrate proficiency in academic, social, and life skills.  The faculty and staff of Westlane Middle School encourage the entire Westlane school community to participate in this process.
